One tool. A whole community of possibility.
Dome Trap is a flat-set, remote-triggered cat trap for cats that avoid box and drop traps.
Small beginnings. Practical possibilities.
Each trap takes care to build. We’re looking for regular trappers and local teams who will put the equipment to work, share what they learn and help make it better. Start a conversation with us about your community; we’ll confirm current availability and next steps.
- 01
Start with the local fit
Regular trappers and community organizers can describe their setting, the cats that avoid box or drop traps, and who would coordinate shared access.
- 02
Talk through the practical work
We can discuss equipment assembly, training and resource questions, and the local process for checkout, return, cleaning, and record-keeping.
- 03
Coordinate carefully
The pilot is limited and availability is confirmed individually. An enquiry helps start a conversation; it does not reserve a unit or promise a shipping date.

She turned pain
into persistence.
“I just wanted one other way.”
Before there was a Dome Trap, there was a mama cat Lisa couldn’t save in time.
Lisa and her neighbors had been trying to help a cautious community cat who kept having kittens. The mama avoided their traps, and her kittens learned to follow in her wary footsteps. Lisa kept trying—but the familiar tools weren’t enough.
Then the mama became sick. A severe winter cold spell arrived, and she sheltered in a storm drain. Lisa brought her food and continued trying to reach her. When the cold finally broke, Lisa hoped she had made it through. She never saw the mama again.
That loss stayed with her. In her grief, Lisa made a commitment to the cat she had been unable to help: find at least one other way. Not a promise that every rescue would succeed, but another option when conventional traps—and every idea she had tried—had failed.
The first spark came from an ordinary scene: children’s pop-up soccer nets in the park. Lisa wondered whether something that lay flat could rise around a cat, instead of asking the cat to enter a cage. With her husband, a software developer, and a retired veteran electrical engineer who donated his time and expertise—all for the love of animals—Lisa began experimenting. Together, they developed the initial frame and electronics.
What followed was patient work: prototypes, testing, changes and more testing. Lisa’s persistence became the Dome Trap—a different approach shaped by the cat she could not save, and by the hope of reaching others in time.
One cat’s loss became a reason to keep going. Today, the community pilot carries that purpose forward: another tool for the people who refuse to stop trying.
Retold from Lisa Lewis’s account of the Dome Trap’s beginnings. The quotation above is her own wording.

A circle of support.
Another chance for a cat.
Can’t afford it? We understand. Bring a sponsor—or a whole circle of them—together to help a local team access the Dome Trap. A shared lending program can put that same tool in more caring hands.

Who is the pilot for?
It is intended for regular trappers and local groups that can support a thoughtful, repeatable process around a shared piece of equipment. We can talk through whether that fits your setting.
Can I use this for an urgent rescue need?
The trap offers another tool for targeted cat rescue, but Dome Trap is not an emergency-response service. For an urgent animal need, contact a local veterinarian or rescue organization rather than waiting for equipment to be shipped.
What about shipping and assembly?
Shipping is discussed individually, and no shipping time is promised here. Ask us for guidance on equipment shipping, assembly, and the relevant training or resource materials for your team.
Can a group have more than one trained user?
Potentially. Groups can discuss multiple trained users with the community coordinator, along with who will manage local checkout, return, cleaning, and training records.
Is equipment availability guaranteed?
No. This is a limited production pilot, so availability is not guaranteed. Check available lease dates on the product page, or ask the team about upcoming equipment. Shipping and handoff are confirmed separately.
Does this enquiry reserve equipment?
No. The enquiry tool prepares an email for you to send. It doesn’t place you on a waitlist, hold dates or take payment. The team will reply about the next step; a lease reservation is a separate process.
Let’s find the right way to help.
